Two hawks that are very difficult to identify are the sharp-shinned hawk and the Cooper's hawk. Both have similar markings, but the sharp-shinned hawk is smaller and has delicate talons. The juvenile sharp-shinned hawk also has coarse brown streaks and the Cooper's hawk has thin, dark streaks on his chest. Both hunt song birds.
